Refund Policy
Honest. Fair. Not gameable.
Texas law requires attorneys to return unearned fees when representation terminates (Tex. Disciplinary Rule 1.16(d)). This policy tells you exactly what we consider earnedat each stage of your engagement — so there's no ambiguity, and so the policy survives any dispute.
Earned-fee milestones
A flat-fee engagement is earned in stages. The further into your engagement you are, the less of the fee is refundable — because the firm has already performed services you've paid for.
Before intake submission
You've paid but not yet submitted your intake. The firm has not performed drafting services. You may cancel for a full refund within 30 days.
After intake, before draft delivery
You've submitted your intake and the firm has begun drafting. Cancellation is available, but the firm has earned a 40% drafting-commencement fee (Texas Disciplinary Rule 1.16(d) requires return of unearned fees only).
After draft delivery, before approval
The firm has prepared, reviewed, and delivered your draft for your review. You may still request unlimited minor revisions without additional charge. Cancellation returns the 20% finalization-and-delivery fee; all drafting fees are earned.
After approval & final delivery
Services are fully rendered. The document has been finalized, delivered, and accepted. The engagement is complete. All funds have been earned and moved from IOLTA to operating in accordance with Texas trust-accounting rules. No refund is available.
Clauses that prevent gaming.
We built TexasEstates at fixed prices so every buyer gets a fair deal. These terms protect the firm — and the 99% of honest clients — from bad-faith exploitation.
- 1
Chargebacks after document delivery will be disputed with the processor and reported to the State Bar of Texas under applicable rules.
- 2
Document content — including drafts and specimens — is the firm's work product under Tex. Bus. & Com. Code § 324.001 and cannot be retained or reused after a refund is issued.
- 3
Revision requests are for the specific document purchased. Scope changes (e.g. upgrading a Will to a Trust-based plan) require a new engagement.
- 4
Purchase of a bundle is priced as a single engagement; partial-bundle refunds are not available after intake submission.
- 5
Refunds for 'I changed my mind' or 'I already had this' after intake submission are not available — buyers are expected to read the product description before purchase.
How to request a refund.
- Email refunds@texasestates.com with your order number and the reason for cancellation.
- The firm will confirm the applicable milestone (01–04) and the refundable amount within two business days.
- Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method within 5–7 business days, consistent with IOLTA trust-accounting requirements.
- Documents, drafts, and specimen content are deleted from your account and are not licensed for use after a refund issues.
This policy is incorporated into every engagement letter by reference. It can be updated from time to time; material changes will be communicated to active clients before taking effect. Your continued use of our documents after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
